Cyborg admiral Kel-Paten harbors an unrequited love for Captain Tasha Sebastian and after 11 years, has still not told her how he feels. But the gin-swizzling, smart-mouthed Tasha can break down the inhibitions of a saint.

Their ship goes through a space vortex, destroying tagalong Jace Serafino's ship. Dr. Eden Fynn, Tasha's drinking partner and liberty buddy, restores Jace to health. Jace convinces the ladies of a conspiracy that might involve the Admirala conspiracy that wants Jace and Tasha dead.

Ms. Sinclair combines a hilariously inept lover, strong females and a telepathic rebel into a wonderful cast of characters. Several plot twists keep the action moving to a cliffhanger endingwhich we hope will be resolved in a forthcoming sequel. (Apr., 360 pp., $18.95)
