Nathan McDugan wants to build a concert hall in honor of his deceased girlfriend in the farm community of Marlpit. His plan is met with resistance, however, from Jennifer Brant.

For generations her family farm has served as a gateway for lost souls. To protect this land, she rallies the town's citizens to join her in opposing the hall's construction. And when Cora Winters agrees to sell a portion of her land to Nathan before the deal is finalized, she is brutally murdered.

Needless characters weigh down Marzec's plot. Also, Jennifer and Nathan are a couple whose actions speak little of love. (dk $5.49, dl $4.99)
