Copper Daly gets a distress call from her twin, Crimson. Knowing that her sis has a knack for finding trouble, Copper heads to St. Louis to bail her sister out once again. Upon arriving at Crimson's apartment, Copper realizes that things are worse than she feared. After hearing a message from her sister's boss, Copper decides to impersonate Crimson to try to find out what happened to her.

While she is working at Lucky's Bar as Crimson, Bastian walks into Copper's life. Soon he and Copper can't deny their attraction for each other ... even though Bastian is a vampire. While exploring their feelings, Bastian realizes that Copper is a conduit -- her blood gives vampires super strength. Knowing that he has to bond with her for life to save her from other vampires, Bastian finds this idea not as terrible as he once thought. Along the way, they must also save Crimson from an evil female vamp.

Copper and Bastian are strong characters who come across well in this story. The secondary characters are also engrossing and well developed. The only flaw, though small, is how easily Copper accepts and embraces the fact that there are vampires. (dl $5.99)
