A CONFLICT OF INTEREST (3) by Barbara Dunlop: Television reporter Max Gray is off-limits to the newly elected president’s public relations assistant Cara Cranshaw, but their passionate affair before the election resulted in a little something that Cara can’t ignore — and she can’t let Max know she’s pregnant. Avoiding him would be easier if they weren’t closing in on the same bombshell story from opposite sides of the desk. Max knows Cara’s hiding something and his reporter’s instincts have kicked into overdrive. Selfish Max and neurotic Cara should be center stage in this story, but are a distant second to the intriguing plot, which is all that’s saving this reader from closing the book on them.
