The characters in Jory Strong’s newest novella are sadly underdeveloped. Motivations for Khemirra and Conner’s actions are never explained which leads to confusing moments where they make spontaneous decisions that change their whole lives. Despite these problems, the sexual heat in the story cannot be denied. The hero and heroine burn up the sheets with a ferocious intensity that will appeal to readers that love spicy erotica tales.

Werewolf Khemirra Reis committed murder in order to avoid capture. Now she is on the run with no one to turn to, especially not homicide detective Conner Stern. But Khemirra has nothing to fear from Conner, he doesn’t want to arrest her — he wants to protect her. He also wants her in bed and against the wall and everywhere else ... The only problem is that Conner doesn’t believe in the supernatural and Khemirra doesn’t know how to explain her shapeshifting ability. So although the pair has an amazing physical connection, Khemirra does not believe that she can open up emotionally to the man who might be her one true mate. (ELLORAS CAVE, May 2011, dl. $4.45)
