After a medical scandal nearly ends her career, Dr. Sheridan Wexler picks up the pieces in Duck River, Tennessee. Armed with a position in the town's only clinic, she falls head over heels for more than just the scenery.

Clinic owner Dr. Chase Larson is a dreamboat and not at all opposed to mixing business with pleasure. But will trouble mar their newly constructed relationship when Chase learns Sheridan's secret?

Although at times the story is slightly saccharine, there is too much to enjoy to let that detract. White intersperses great humor into the tone as well as a hint of suspense, which adds depth to her story. (Jan., 371 pp., $9.95)
