In an enjoyable sequel to Cold Tea On A Hot Day, Curtiss Ann Matlock takes readers back to Valentine, Oklahoma. Marilee James is now engaged to new editor Tate Holloway.

Planning a marriage is supposed to be stressful but exciting. In Marilee's case, stressful wins out. Trying to plan a wedding while caring for a son with special needs and an adolescent niece is enough to push anyone over the edge.

Her biggest stumbling block comes along one night to truly throw Marilee for a loop. Her ex-husband, Stuart James, has returned after years away. Now he's making Marilee really think about her future.

With a nice blend of humor and touching emotional storytelling, this is an enjoyable read in which Ms. Matlock takes readers into the lives of the many residents of Valentine, though a few too many POVs are used. (Jul., 448 pp., $6.50)
