by Anne Herries

Genre: Regency Period, Historical Romance, E-book, England
Setting: Regency England

RT Rating

With her story, Herries brings to life a wide cast of characters and then adds a touch of suspense. The sweet Susannah and passionate, older Lord Harry will please genre fans as their courtship follows closely to conventions of the time while still providing a touching happily ever after. Readers will also appreciate the way that the author digs deeply into the conflict caused by the hero and heroine's age difference, especially as Harry is the one who is more worried about the gap.

On a quiet day in the country, Miss Susannah Hampton meets Lord Harry Pendleton when he almost runs her over in his curricle. They exchange cross words and the country miss never thinks she will see the hotheaded lord again. However, when she accepts a family friend's unexpected offer of a London season, Susannah and Harry move in the same social circles. When the older lord rescues her from the improper advances of Lord Northaven, they strike up a friendship that soon leads to a proper proposal. But both Harry and Susannah worry that this marriage of convenience will never become the love match that they both desire. (HARLEQUIN, Jul., dl. $5.99)
