COWBOY IN THE EXTREME (3) by Rita Herron: Five years ago, Brandon Woodstock dumped the woman he loved, Kim Long, to enter into a marriage of convenience to save his sister. Now, Kim and their daughter Lucy, a baby Brandon never knew about, are in danger and he’ll do anything to protect them — and to earn back Kim’s trust. Is Kim being stalked by her former lover, Brandon’s former best friend, after his prison break? Or is there someone with a darker motive? When Lucy is kidnapped, there’s nothing they won’t do to find her. Herron’s tale is dark, starting with a resounding crash and ending with a surprising climax, but the pages in between are a little hard to wade through, with characters almost impossible to like.
