COWBOY TO THE RESCUE
COWBOY TO THE RESCUE (3) by Stella Bagwell When rancher Lex Saddler's mother hires P.I. Christina Logan to look into his father's supposedly accidental death, he's upset -- he'd rather leave well enough alone. But once Christina discovers evidence indicating foul play, Lex's attitude toward the investigation -- and her -- changes. A self-admitted ladies' man, he's intrigued by Christina, but she doesn't have casual affairs, and he's not sure he wants anything more. Bagwell builds suspense with some skill, and the push-pull dynamic between the characters works nicely. But Lex is problematic: He seems to be either totally emotionless, wracked by passion or angry, with no nuances in between.
