Nora Blackbird is a wonderful main character, one who always shines on the page. Her sister Libby is usually just as enjoyable but in this book, she's too abrasive and annoying. Still, the sixth entry in the hilarious Blackbird family series has a strong story and is great fun.

Nora has finally agreed to marry Michael Abruzzo, the son of
a notorious mobster. But that news is slightly overshadowed when Nora finds
a severed hand at a social event. It's believed to belong to Penny Devine, an ex-Hollywood starlet who disappeared. Penny's family wants to declare her dead immediately, which makes Nora suspicious. Could someone close to Penny have murdered her, or is Nora just trying to take her mind off of her upcoming nuptials? (NAL, Mar., 288 pp., $21.95)
