City newspaper reporter Tess Lockwood struggles to make a new life for herself and her son, Bruce. Bruce can't seem to fit in, and when Tess is called to principal Mitch Jackson's office, she discovers he's a caring man who's willing to help her with her floundering teenager. An ex-cop, Mitch has his reasons for becoming involved in the lives of his students, although he hadn't planned to get involved with a parent. The problem is, to Tess' son, Mitch is the enemy.

In CROSSROADS (4), Irene Hannon does a wonderful job knitting together a tender romance with issues single mothers face.
