Book Review

by Shane Gericke

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Suspense

RT Rating

Gericke's second book about rookie cop Emily Thompson, Detective Martin Benedetti and the Naperville Police is a slap shot into the net. The followup to his spectacular debut (Blown Away) is a top-notch thriller that will leave readers gasping for air throughout this tale of revenge and justice.

In 1972, an innocent man was executed for a crime he didn't commit. Now, nearly 40 years later, it looks like someone's getting even for that mistake. What's the connection between a series of brutal, and apparently random, murders and that 1972 execution?
And on a personal note, who is the woman calling Marty, and why is he being so secretive? While a relentless D.A. prepares for an execution and Emily and Marty look into the deaths, it's apparent that either Marty or Emily is the next target of a killer dubbed "The Executioner."
