THE DAD NEXT DOOR
Architect Gavin Gray moves to Squam Lake, hoping to find some clue as to the whereabouts of the mother of his twin daughters so he can let her know that one has died in a terrible accident. Instead, he finds interior decorator Allison Bennett. Allison and Gavin are immediately attracted, as is Gavin's young daughter, Tory. The couple's budding relationship is complicated, however, when Marianne, Gavin's ex, arrives on the scene and needs his help. C.J. Carmichael's The Dad Next Door (4.5) is remarkably well written. Her characters have depth and realism, and her depiction of their emotions is spot-on. Gavin's guilt over his ex's illness is exactly what one would expect.
