DANGER IN THE DESERT (4) by Merline Lovelace: Jaci Thornton, a research librarian, is in Egypt on a trip of a lifetime when she finds a scarab in the sand in the Valley of the Dead. She’s sure it is a cheap fake, and her guide confirms her suspicions. OMEGA agent Deke Griffin knows there’s been chatter from terrorists wanting to overthrow the Egyptian president. The terrorists believe that the scarab means Jaci is a messenger sent by an ancient goddess. OMEGA can’t tell if Jaci is an innocent over her head or part of the conspiracy, and dispatches Deke to the region. An interesting background with lots of details about the history (maybe a few too many), great sexual tension and a wonderful hero and heroine make this a sparkling book.
