DANGEROUS ALLIES (4.5) by Renee Ryan: 1939 Hamburg, Germany: Performer Katarina Kerensky uses her skills to obtain information and aid her beloved England. She also harbors a secret, which, if revealed, will send her and her mother to the concentration camps. Lt. Jack Anderson is in Germany to meet his contact, obtain the information and get out. When he meets Katarina, he’s smitten. He tries to get her to leave with him, but she won’t go without her mother. When her mother announces she is engaged to a childhood friend serving in Hitler’s navy, Katarina and Jack must take extreme care with their activities. Ryan outdoes herself with this latest offering — a mix of romance, intrigue and spies. She writes her characters with strong feelings and heart.
