When restaurant manager Maren Minnesota interviews Jared Stevens for the assistant chef position, she is unpleasantly reminded of a too-handsome, manipulative past fiancé. But he is an excellent cook and cool under pressure, so she hires him despite her feeling he's hiding something. What Jared is concealing is that he's really an undercover detective, working to uncover a mob-related money-laundering scheme. As he falls for Maren, Jared has to decide whether to trust his heart or his head. With its restaurant setting, Dangerous Disguise (4) by Marie Ferrarella offers an interesting twist on the undercover cop story. The characters are strong and attractive, with logical issues that help to drive them apart and passion that pulls them together.
