RT Rating

Hart's long-running Death on Demand series brings readers another superbly written mystery featuring Annie and Max Darling. The quaint sea island of Broward's Rock has more than its share of secrets, and a crime committed years earlier comes back to haunt the current residents. Top-notch suspense and several red herrings keep readers guessing until the dramatic conclusion, when Annie and Max gather all the suspects to uncover the truth.

Annie, who runs the Death on Demand mystery bookstore in Broward's Rock, S.C., loves a good mystery, so she's intrigued when Iris Tilford arrives in town on a bicycle in the rain. A former resident who fled after two of her high school classmates died tragically, Iris has returned to set things right. But some of her former classmates are not happy to see her. When Annie invites Iris to the Darlings' party, she never suspects that one of the island's residents will do her in. Now Annie, Max and their friends need to find out who killed Iris and what really happened on that tragic night long ago. (MORROW, Apr., 304 pp., $23.95)
