A 38-year-old woman and a former acquaintance arrange a clandestine meeting for the sole purpose of getting her pregnant, but an electrical blackout results in unforeseen consequences IN THE DARK (2). Pamela Burfords tale begins with a strong premise and electrifying chemistry but readers may find it difficult to maintain empathy for the hero and enthusiasm for a plot that depends too much on a lack of communication.
