Book Review

THE DARK DIVINE
by Bree Despain

Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal

RT Rating

This great read requires a bit of patience, but it's well worth the effort. Teen readers will easily relate to Grace, which makes the twists that much more fun. By the end of the book readers will be glued to the pages and want more, which works out well for this planned series.

Grace Divine has always tried to live up to her name, but when Daniel, her first crush and her brother's worst enemy, comes back to town, it's hard. Daniel's dark past and abrupt departure years before turned Grace's brother, Jude, completely against him. Jude is determined not to forgive what happened, which puts Grace in a tough spot.

There's also a monster killing innocent people. Can Grace really believe that the monster is Daniel? And what will happen when Jude confronts Daniel for the first time in years? (EGMONT, Dec., 384 pp., $17.99, ISBN: 9781606840573, HC, 12 and Up)
