Jamie Lee has spent all her 26 years in Hootertown and has no desire to leave. When Parker Carrington comes to town wanting to make a movie there, it's Jamie Lee who ends up playing town guide for the hunky producer. As the attraction between Parker and Jamie Lee develops, so does local boy Griff's discovery that his best friend's little sister, who had a crush on him when they were teenagers, is now all grown up.

Has this revelation come too late, and will Jamie Lee be lured away by an extremely attractive and suave man? Or will Griff learn to present himself in a more polished way in time to win back Jamie Lee's heart?

A delightfully light romance chock full of interesting and fun characters, McLane's novel is charmingly entertaining. Though it strictly follows Jamie Lee's perspective in the first person, it still offers plenty of insight into the lives of the secondary characters. A truly pleasurable read. (Aug., 304 pp., $6.99)
