The second book in Gay’s gritty Atlanta-set urban fantasy series is even better than the first! Charlie is fast becoming a vastly intriguing and likable heroine. The groundwork laid in the first novel pays off here as Charlie must face the repercussions of her actions. The tight plotting keeps the pace brisk and the action exciting. This author is definitely on the rise!

Although agent Charlie Madigan saved her young daughter Emma from a deadly menace, the cost was high, as Atlanta is now under perpetual darkness. Charlie is also still coming to terms with her body’s ongoing evolution, after being given DNA from both the world of Charbydon and Elysian. A war is brewing between the two worlds and Atlanta could be ground zero unless Charlie and her siren partner Hank can find out who is responsible for the brutal slaughter of Adonai. Charlie suspects that the serial killer Llyran is responsible, but does he have a larger plan? Charlie has been given only one week by the Druid King to solve the murder before he declares war.
