DARKSONG RISING
by L.E. Modesitt Jr.

Genre: Science Fiction, General Science Fiction

RT Rating

DARKSONG RISING (4.5) concludes L.E. Modesitt, Jr.s Spellsong Cycle trilogy featuring Anna Marshall, music teacher from the Midwest, transported into a fantasy world where music is magic. Even though Anna is now Regent of Defalk and a powerful sorceress, she must still fight the chauvinistic lords unwilling to accept changes to this male-dominated feudal society. Mr. Modesitt has created a fascinating world, deftly weaving choices and consequences into his coming-of-age tale, as his heroine learns and teaches about the responsibilities that come with wielding power. The passionately feminist theme doesnt stop Mr. Modesitt from penning an exquisitely poignant scene in which Anna and Jecks finally acknowledge their love. Paperback release. (Jan.)
