Like its predecessor Hara's Legacy, D'Arc's new novel showcases an ensemble of great characters, some of whom will be familiar if you've read the first story in the Resonance Mates series. Her saga about an alien invasion continues as humans are forced to change their ideas about what constitutes marriage and family. The well-crafted plot unfolds with enough twists for an entertaining escape into the future and a satisfying conclusion.

Earth is invaded by aliens who have bred emotions out of their race. The Alvians believe humans are primitive and study them like animals.

Davin is a throwback, an Alvian who still has emotions. When he finds a human woman who is his true resonance mate, he'll do anything to protect her. But Callie has a second mate, Rick St. John, a human. If these three can learn to share their love and form a relationship, they just might be able to save mankind. (SAMHAIN, Jan., 256 pp., $13.50)
