Lizzy Hadley is in Italy for the wedding of her best friend Bianca to millionaire Luc De Santis. It's her last getaway before a family scandal in London hits the papers, and things don't go as planned. Lizzy finds herself attracted to Luc, and Bianca runs off with Lizzy's brother. Luc refuses to be jilted. He knows what's going on with the Hadley family and blackmails Lizzy into marriage by promising to help the Hadleys. But all is not as it seems, and when Lizzy finds out the truth, she returns home. Now Luc must convince her he's worth a second chance. Anyone looking for a romantic tale won't find it in Michelle Reid's The De Santis Marriage (2). It's more like a battle for survival, and the "I love yous" that come in the closing pages seem out of place.
