DEAD EVER AFTER
by Charlaine Harris

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

RT Rating

One of the most beloved vampire series ever published comes to a satisfying and fitting end with the release of Dead Ever After. The Sookie saga has taken this charming and initially innocent young woman on a voyage of supernatural discovery that has truly tested her endurance and humanity. The superbly talented Harris closes out her story in a spine-tingling manner that also brings back many familiar characters for a final bow. The resolution of this series will spark some controversy, but for me it worked wonderfully and felt true to the evolution of Sookie. Thank you, Ms. Harris, for a wild and wonderful ride!

After having used the cluviel dor to resurrect Sam, Sookie finds that her own life is once again in turmoil. Sam is processing having died, and Eric is caught up in vampire politics and still upset with Sookie for using the cluviel dor. But trouble really arrives when a shocking murder is perpetrated using Sookie’s scarf. Despite this weak evidence, Sookie is arrested. Someone is out to destroy Sookie and willing to do anything to succeed. In these dangerous times Sookie is about to find out who her true friends are. (ACE, May, 352 pp., $27.95)

Satisfying ending...

I have loved Sookie since Dead Until Dark. It's a series I have been able to count on for consistent enjoyment. I'm always excited to start a new book in the series and I always turn the final page with feeling of satisfaction. Dead Ever After was no different. While I'm so sorry to see Sookie go, I'm very pleased that the author ended Sookie's story on a high note. Thank you, Charlaine Harris for a wonderful series. And thank you for always keeping it classy!
