Christopher does not disappoint in her second DEA thriller. There’s no shortage of heart-stopping action and explosive encounters. “Page-turner” is definitely an apt description for this story because the surprises just keep on coming.

Kira is hopeful that her life can get back on the right path after her drug lord husband, Kareem, is arrested. She is so fearful of him that even when she learns he died in an explosion in their house, she doesn’t believe it. Once DEA agent Dexter Brady convinces her that Kareem is gone for good, Kira reclaims her life, and she and Dexter explore their mutual feelings. Six months after the explosion, Kira has put the past behind her and is working as a nurse. However, small incidents have her concerned. Dexter is more than capable of protecting her but there are ghosts from the past that continue to threaten them. (DAFINA, Oct., 320 pp., $6.99)
