Book Review

by Jess Haines

Genre: Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

RT Rating

The third in the Shiarra Waynest series, this book benefits from the appealing heroine and good dialogue that are par for the course for Haines. However, this particular entry is missing a solid plot. Things happen one after another without following a central thread, and by the end the reader realizes this book is little more than a transition to Haines’ next series entry. If you’re a fan of this series, then it’s crucial you read this title; but if you haven’t read the first two, skip it.

After P.I. Shiarra Waynest’s escape from her latest vampire tormentor, she’s ready for some R&R with her werewolf boyfriend Chaz. A romantic trip to a remote woodland resort is just what the doctor ordered — except that Chaz’s entire clan will be joining them for the full moon. When Shiarra and Chaz’s cabin is trashed and angry notes are left on their door, it’s clear someone doesn’t want them there. Can their relationship survive the weekend from Hell — more importantly, will Shiarra survive at all? (ZEBRA, Jul., 352 pp., $6.99)
