Book Review

by Kate Kingsbury

Genre: Mystery/Suspense/Thriller, Mystery, Historical

RT Rating

Set in turn-of-the-century England, Kingsbury's novel is a fun whodunit, part of her Pennyfoot Hotel series. The story is fast-paced and has engaging characters, but at times Cecily seems too involved in managing things. When a body is found, her need to hide it from the guests seems too over the top, even for the polite society of the early 1900s.

When the polygamous ex-husband of one of Cecily Sinclair Baxter's staff is found dead on the premises of the country club she manages, Cecily becomes involved in the investigation. Once she realizes that he didn't drown but was murdered, she suspects the killer is someone close to her. (BERKLEY PRIME CRIME, Nov., 304 pp., $14.00)
