After the Tucker Gang kills his family and leaves him for dead, Clint Williams is bent on revenge. Little does he know that he's about to meet the woman of his dreams at a time when a distraction could mean his death and allow a murderous gang to continue their spree.

Reborn as gunslinger Kane McCullough, he follows a lead to Dry Springs, arriving just in time to rescue the reverend's beautiful daughter, Rachel Hammond, from a drunk's attack.

Rachel is attracted to the stranger but wary of him too. When she's caught in a storm and her horse bolts, Kane comes to her aid. After they spend the night alone, people begin to talk. Though he can't allow anyone into his life, Kane reveals that he's a Texas Ranger on the hunt for killers.

Kane and Rachel are married in private. They can't make their nuptials public until his work is finished. And it's about to be finished when he tracks two members of the gang and finds out that their boss is none other than the sheriff of Dry Springs. Will Clint triumph and be able to announce to the world that he's really a Texas Ranger and shout
out his love for Rachel?

The talented Smith is in her element out west. This novel is fast-paced and filled with adventure and tender feelings, though it's on the sweeter side than some of her previous books. Still, it's a very beautiful story. SENSUAL (Apr., 322 pp., $6.99)
