RT Rating

Though this story gets off to a slow start, by the end of chapter four readers will be completely invested and happy that they persevered. The payoff is well worth it because this novel is so endearing. With a complicated love, demon-hunting fun, ancient mysteries to solve and lives to save, Kenner's latest is full of touching moments, realistic emotions and all-too-human complications.

Demon hunter Kate's husband has died and come back to life. She remarried in the interim, and while things haven't been easy because Stuart only recently found out she's a demon hunter, they're making it work. In between training Stuart and her daughter Allie
to fight demons, she's struggling to find
a way to help her ex, Eric, defeat the demon that lives inside him.

If Kate cannot find a way to help Eric defeat his demon, he'll die, or worse, lose the battle with the demon and become one with it. She owes it to Allie to help save her father. Can Kate save the man she still loves and retain her husband's trust and faith, or will the demon inside Eric be her downfall too? (BERKLEY, Oct., 336 pp., $14.00)
