THE DEPUTY'S LOST AND FOUND (3) by Stella Bagwell: On a routine patrol, Deputy Brady Donovan finds an unconscious woman in a ditch. Tests reveal she has a concussion and amnesia. Christening her Lass, Brady opens his home to her, since she's without money or a place to stay. Attracted at once, he tries to keep his distance when he gets a lead and Lass' memory begins to return. Convincing Brady that she feels love, not gratitude, is as challenging for Lass as learning who she really is. Though reworking an often-used plot, Bagwell's story succeeds because the characters are handled well and have good chemistry.
