When an ancient force, accidentally unleashed from a mysterious Arabic ewer, kills Therese Hunter's husband, she's left to pick up the pieces of her shattered life and deal with a stranger who refuses to let her mourn in peace. Kane claims to be a centuries-old djinni who needs Therese's help to defeat an evil nemesis. No matter how hard she tries pushing him away, Therese can't escape the spell her "genie-man" has placed on her heart.

Ms. McKeever has a wonderful talent for writing witty, natural dialogue. Therese is a strong and spirited heroine, and the perfect foil for the stoic Kane. However, these characters do not get the story they deserve. The plot moves at a slow pace and I found myself easily distracted. ($6.00 dl)
