John does an excellent job of providing characters with real-life problems that readers can identify with. The conclusion is a bit rushed, but overall this is a fascinating novel exploring the desert times in life and marriage.

Jillian Galloway is a well-known speaker and author focusing on Christian marriage and communication. She is blindsided by the news that her husband of 24 years is tired of things and wants a divorce. Can Jill still be a trustworthy speaker if her own marriage is falling apart? As she spends time with her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Jill begins to take a hard look at the choices and mistakes she has made. Hopefully, it’s not too late to rescue her own relationship. (TYNDALE, Jun., 425 pp., $13.99)
