DESERT KNIGHTS (3) by Linda Conrad & Loreth Anne White: In Conrad’s “Bodyguard Sheik,” Agent Karim Kadir is assigned to protect sharpshooter Morgan Bell on a covert assassination mission that goes awry. In White’s “Sheik’s Captive,” Kathleen Flaherty is searching for her missing sister when her camp is attacked and everyone but Kathleen killed. Sayeed Ali, an undercover CIA operative, spares her life. Both stories have well-developed characters and strong romantic tension. However, in White’s story, the premise that Sayeed jeopardizes his mission after a single glimpse of Kathleen is difficult to believe.
