The third and final book in the Avalon series is dark, disturbing and unfortunately not as thrilling as Bloome’s previous works. It almost feels hurried. Throughout the story, there’s also an absence of dialogue. On the plus side, the author’s imagination is unsurpassed compared to other erotica writers, and readers will be thankful that many questions have been answered and mysteries debunked in this fiery conclusion.

Dr. Alexandra Blake has no choice but to face the world again after she is finally freed from her captors. She feels like a stronger woman who has just been reborn. But, in order to move forward, her past must be confronted. Her lover, Jeremy Quinn, continues to seek answers concerning the female libido she can’t even begin to explain. Alexandra starts to question her sexual desires and unearth her roots as she searches for her true release. (AVON RED, May, 336 pp., $13.99)
