When an author sets the standard for excellence, every new title released has a high mountain to climb. The wonder is, each book by Jenkins is better than the last. The newest Destiny entry is no exception, as a womanizer and a lady of the evening strike a match that burns brightly.

Whilemina “Billie” Wells doesn’t make apologies for how she earns her living, and to Andrew Yates, she’s simply “Mina.” Their liaison suits them both and she has no illusions about a future with Drew. But after their last parting, Billie discovers that she’s pregnant and has no idea who the father is. She simply accepts the consequences and plans to give the child up at birth. A threat to her child and her overwhelming love for the baby force Billie to flee, and she shows up at the Yates ranch just in time for Drew’s engagement party. But this lady is no shrinking violet, and she soon captures Drew’s heart. Danger follows her, but this family can withstand any challenge. (AVON, Oct., 384 pp., $7.99)
