THE DEVIL YOU KNOW
Bentley Rutledge justifiably thinks of himself as a rake and a rogue. He deliberately thrusts himself into situations that are both dangerous and reckless. However, when heartbroken Frederica (Freddie) throws herself into his arms, he comforts her the only way he knows how.
When she realizes she is pregnant, Freddie intends to leave England. However, when Bentley discovers her plans he proposes marriage, and Freddie is compelled to accept.
Though it appears to be a marriage neither wanted, it is just the union both of them need. Though they don't realize it at first, each gives the other the emotional support and love they crave. They do know that the passion between them is too powerful to ignore. As love grows, hidden secrets are revealed that can bring about redemption or ruin.
I am always intrigued at how Liz Carlyle can take a tried-and-true plot and turn and twist it just enough to create a fresh and absolutely captivating romance. Perhaps it is her strong multi-dimensional characters, the powerful emotions that sear the reader's heart or even the simmering sensuality that scorches the pages; either way, readers know they are in for a treat when they pick up a book by this talented author.
