Although Rachel Caine's Devil's Bargain (3) is an exciting story, the plot gets confusing at times. But the chemistry between Jazz and James makes the story flow smoothly, and Caine's dialogue is good.

Former cop Jazz Callender is nearly broke when attorney James Borden's mysterious bosses offer her funding to open a P.I. agency. The catch is that she has to co-found it with a woman she doesn't know. What starts out complicated gets even more so when Jazz and her new partner, Lucia, find themselves involved in much more than they bargained for.
