There is no doubt in anyone's mind that Justin Trevalyn, the Duke of Marlow, is a rake and a rogue, so how does he inherit the guardianship of Isabel Darracott and her sisters? What does a scoundrel, known as "the Devil of Dartmoor," know about taking care of respectable women?

At 23, Isabel is no child, but she knows that she must depend on the Duke to help her family. Eventually, she finds an unusual ally in Sophia, the Dowager Duchess, and her sisters, who see in Justin a true knight in shining armor.

However, Isabel needs Justin to be a treasure hunter, since she may have the clues to locating a treasure that could save her family-if only she could solve their mystery with Justin's aid.

Haunted by demons from his childhood, Justin has no desire for love, but he allows his defenses to fall when he's around the Darracott women, especially the desirable Isabel.

Getting caught up in the quest, uncovering the clues and finding foes where there were once friends bring Isabel and Justin together as they come ever closer to solving the mystery of the treasure and of love.

Debra Dier will keep you turning the pages of the entertaining, fast-paced tale. A quick evening's read, it both charms and delights with a little mystery, passion and even a bit of humor. SENSUAL (Mar., 380 pp., $5.99)
