Research chemist Miranda Shaw is outraged when sportswriter Mike Marlowe dredges up the scandal that got her father, a former major league pitcher, banned from the game and the Hall of Fame. Her irate e-mail results in a meeting, and their spirited sparring leads to sparks of a different kind. But Miranda can't think about the future when the past is still such a part of their lives. Marie Ferrarella begins Kate's Boys with Diamond in the Rough (3). The characters are handled quite well, and there's lots of sizzle between them, but
the plot overpowers their romance.
