Psychologist Emalea LeBlanc hates domineering men and is happy to teach
one a lesson when he challenges her to a motorcycle road race. Former FBI agent Jackson Cooper realizes that losing his motorcycle to a woman in a race probably isn't the best way to begin his career as the newest member of the Cypress Landing sheriff's department. In spite of their somewhat rough beginning, however, the two manage to work together to solve a mystery surrounding a bag of guns, a dead mobster and one of Emalea's patients. In A Different Kind of Man (4), by Suzanne Cox, the chemistry between Emalea and Jackson is so well-written that the reader can easily see how the two fit together. The characters' ability to get over past heartbreak is a lesson in hope.
