Hauck’s latest is a little predictable, but readers won’t mind that a bit. The seamless addition of a spiritual element to the story evokes emotion and contemplation. Foodies will relish this fun tale, filled with characters to connect with and delicious recipes.

Joy Ballard took over her father’s cooking show when he died, and now Dining With Joy has been picked up by a network. Joy harbors a secret though — she can’t cook! Chef Luke Davis has just arrived in town after his restaurant failed and he is instantly attracted to Joy. Romance blooms when he joins her show. What will happen with the show and their relationship when he finds out that she’s been lying about her cooking abilities? (THOMAS NELSON, Nov., 320 pp., $14.99)
