DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY (4.5) is the latest in Lois McMaster Bujold's entertaining Vorkosigan Saga. Miles and Ekaterin's long-awaited honeymoon is sidetracked when the Emperor asks Miles to investigate a potential treaty-breaking offense in Quaddiespace. Ekaterin gets a chance to meet some of Miles's old friends when it turns out the hermaphrodite Bel Thorne and the quaddie musician Nicole are on the Komarr space station holding Barrayaran spaceships hostage. Miles wants to finish the Imperial audit before his first two babies are decanted from their replicators, but a Cetagandan ba has other plans. Each addition to the Vorkosigan mystique solidifies Ms. Bujold's niche in SF. (May, 320 pp., $25.00)
