DIRTY SEXY KNITTING
Ridgway winds up her trilogy by knitting together the last of the couples entangled in an extended Malibu family. The family is very nontraditional, with sperm-donor dads, absentee moms, friends who are thicker than blood and kids who make a recipe for family in adulthood. You don't have to read the previous books to appreciate
this one, but it helps.
Cassandra has survived the tabloid storm that identified the sperm donor for the three sisters as a famous plastic surgeon. She still has not heard from him, however. In the meantime, it's breaking her heart to keep picking Gabe, her sexy but tormented neighbor, off barroom floors when grief for his dead family gets to be too much for him.
Cassandra's yarn shop, Malibu and Ewe, is doing well. Her two sisters are attached, but she feels alone with everyone else paired off. So she approaches her 30th birthday bash with mixed feelings. And nothing seems to stay settled. People from the past turn up. Strange accidents happen. Gabe ends up in her bed. It's enough to make a girl feel insecure. Who knew turning 30 could be this confusing? (BERKLEY, Jun., 304 pp., $7.99)
