Yet again, Walsh has crafted a novel so engaging that you will lose all sense of time as he draws you in and makes the reader a part of the story. Based on historical facts, this is the perfect blend of history, suspense and romance. Walsh’s “book within a book” concept is intriguing. The reader will be reminded that God alone can give us the peace that surpasses all human understanding.

After the death of his grandfather, the acclaimed author Gerard Warner, Michael Warner inherits his historic Charleston estate. He hopes it will provide the perfect inspiration to complete his first novel. Then Michael finds an unpublished novel, obviously written by his grandfather, though it’s more of a romance than the usual suspense titles that earned Gerard accolades. Michael is drawn in to the world of Ben Coleman and Claire Richards, a young couple in love during World War II. Ben has secrets that can change their lives forever. As Michael delves deeper into their story, he discovers that his grandfather had secrets too, ones that he took to the grave to protect his own family. (REVELL, Apr., 352 pp., $14.99)
