Amateur sleuth, attorney and pet-sitter Kendra Ballantyne is busy solving a dog-related murder in the latest book in her animal-loving series. This story nicely combines mystery, romance and humor. A strong affection for furry, four-legged friends is highly recommended.

Private investigator Jeff Hubbard is missing, and his girlfriend, Kendra, is having a difficult time concentrating on her law and pet-sitting careers. When Jeff's car is found submerged
in a canal, with blood on the seats, Kendra fears that he's been murdered
or kidnapped, so she looks into the cases Jeff was working on at the time
of his disappearance.

Kendra's investigation leads her to Jeff's Aunt Lois, who paid a company to clone her dog, but the canine died. Lois had asked Jeff to quietly see if they were guilty of any wrongdoing. In the meantime, one of the cloners is found murdered. Is Lois a killer? Is Jeff dead or alive? Kendra needs answers. (BERKLEY PRIME CRIME, Jun., 264 pp., $6.99)
