The Labyrinth followup finds a changed Harper Blaine. Harper died for a second time, which resulted in the loss of her Greywalker powers; if she dies again, it will be for good. This installment is very much a detective tale, as Harper hunts for answers to the murder of a Lake Crescent resident. Richardson pulls together a creepy and decidedly eerie story that is filled with zombies, demons and terrible dark powers. Definitely shiver inducing!
Still recovering from being shot in the back and dying, Harper has been concentrating on her P.I. business. While conducting a pre-trial investigation for a client, Harper sees a ghostly car accident, which the victim claims was no accident. As Harper pokes around, she finds way more than she bargained for, as something evil is definitely stirring around the lake. Figuring out exactly what’s going on won’t be easy — there are powerful players imbued with magic who won’t hesitate to try and eliminate a pesky Greywalker. (ROC, Aug., 368 pp., $24.95)
