Randy Roman's mother died of breast cancer two years ago. Now her sister, Susan, has the disease and Randy has fallen into panic and fear. Susan asks Randy to take her two teenage sons on a road trip across Canada to Cranberry Portage, the small town they lived in as children. It's the perfect place to scatter their mother's ashes. Randy has never had children, and she's nervous about the trip and worried about her sister. But once there, they meet Tom Webb, a retired botanist who is living in the house that belonged to the Roman family years ago. Dragonflies and Dinosaurs (3) by Kate Austin is a journey into the past and the truth that's found there as well as a look at the realities of growing up. The boys are good characters, each reacting in his own way, both realistic and touching.
