While the first in Toombs’ Darkness of Dragons trilogy is a quick read, there is little substance in this tale of magic. Because the story takes place over a short period of time the romance is barely developed before the couple gets together.

For centuries, one family descended from Merlin has protected the world from a dragon ensnared by magic. Surviving family members gather in Michigan to choose a keeper and guardian. Only Vran, the outsider, knows the true story of the dragon and the urgent need for protective wards. Cousins Mona, Gwen, Ellis and David are unaware of their lineage. Ellis carries a trace of evil in his blood and is used by their enemy, who wants to release the black dragon from captivity. Weredragon Vran and Mona move toward their rightful places. As lovers the bond between them grows stronger. (DEVINEDESTINIES.COM, dl $3.99)
